BREAKDOWN
The back of the t-shirt captures Kendrick in a haunting scene, digging graves and burying his rivals, Drake and J Cole, in a cemetery. The graves are adorned with the names of the dogs referenced in Drake's track "First Person Shooter," such as Nadine, Christine, and Charlene, symbolizing Kendrick's assertion of dominance over his competitors. This imagery directly correlates with Kendrick's lyrics, " 'fore all your dogs gettin' buried," as he lays his adversaries to rest in a pet cemetery, a metaphorical graveyard for fallen foes.
Turning our attention to the front of the design, we encounter a powerful visual reference to the chess scene from "First Person Shooter." In this scene, Drake and J Cole are depicted playing chess, echoing the iconic photograph of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi engaged in a similar match. This imagery signifies Drake and Cole's status as the reigning kings of hip-hop, mirroring the dominance of Ronaldo and Messi in the world of soccer. However, Kendrick's inclusion in the design disrupts this narrative, challenging the established hierarchy and asserting his own claim to the throne. The striking image of the black king defeating the white king symbolizes Kendrick's defiance and determination to rise above his adversaries, embodying his lyrics, "lost too many soldiers not to play it safe."
CARE
Caring for your clothes is caring for the environment. Lower temperature washes and delicate spin cycles are gentler on garments and help to protect the colour, shape and structure of the fabric. Furthermore, they reduce the amount of energy used in care processes.
Machine wash at max. 30ºC/86ºF with short spin cycle
